My name is Ana Maria Edulescu.
I am a full time painter and I live in Bucharest, Romania. Most of my paintings are oils on stretched canvases. I love oil paints because I enjoy so much the ''onctuosity'' of this medium.
As an effect of my total sincerity to myself in the act of painting, my subjects are varied, from flowers, cities, animals and birds, portraits to abstract expressionist works. In my opinion, to be diverse does not mean to be marginal and poor, but really to participate, from anywhere, in the perpetual surprise of reality, in the vigorous trust which founds the whole.
The constant elements in my paintings are the use of the heavy paint and the vibrancy of the colors. I am fascinated by the explosive sensuality of the rich and luxurious chromatics.
I love to paint and l discovered that by capturing on canvas special moments from my life or my deepest thoughts and feelings, l was not only able to express myself, but l allow others to connect with me. Painting gives me unique moments of freedom ... l think that art does not need to confirm expectations, can be intriguing, even anarchic, if it is necessary... l live and create thinking that life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away. That's why l'll continue to create because this is what l do....
My works can be found in private collections all over the world, in USA, Canada, Australia, Europe...
I grew up into an artistic family : my mother is architect and my father is painter. Since the early age, l was concerned about the imperceptible size of the human existence. Maybe that's why , over the years, l wanted to study philosophy... so l graduated the Faculty of Philosophy from Bucharest. This fact shows into my art, especially in my abstract expressionist paintings.
