Shipping Originals

Dear friends,

Can you tell me how you pack originals for shipping? I havenīt found any reasonable solution yet. I was offered appropriate boxes in the amount of 100 pieces. I donīt think Iīll be so productive :)...Where do you get boxes from?
Thanks!

I order my frames online and save the frame boxes as they are a perfect width and size. I then wrap the painting in brown paper first, then bubble wrap it good. I always try to ship my work unframed as frames are so delicate and easily scratched.

Pastels and charcoal works are at best "difficult" to ship - that bouncing and banging around (yes, I think they have gorillas in the shipping department) could dislodge the 'dust'. On acrylics - you have to make sure the acrylic is "dry" and not tacky at all. after that - I never shipped framed work but one time - and it was a small total outside measure of about 16 X 20 inches. I got packing boxes from furniture stores and made up my own boxes - I was not shipping canvas - so it was mostly a flat sheet of paper - layered between two sheets of white acid free paper that was sandwiched between two foam layers about 1/2" thick. I reinforced the corners and formed the box around the finished work snugly so it wouldn't shift. I've only shipped inside the US - and never had any of the artwork damaged.

I get everything I want at Lowes for under $10, I get a Lowes shipping box which I cut to form a new box, Bubble wrap and tape. As Roy said, use some acid free paper. I ship Canvas Paintings all over the world and I have yet to receive a complaint.
Best of Luck.
Conor.

Thank you for your suggestions. It seems that many people deal with the packing problem "ad hoc" and that there is not a simple solution :/.
