Artists Name On Pictures

I read a statement in our discussions that FAA will not print your photograph if they can see your signature on it! If that's so, why is that!

you can have it, but it has to be small and faded. it's ok if you paint it. but not as a photo. it can't look like a watermark. it's like that because they are often ugly, and customers wouldn't want that on their walls anyway.

Thanks Mike. So does that mean I will have to go back and change each signature or can it be done IF the image sells?

before you change anything why don't you ask tech support first what they think?

maybe on some. it depends how much it sticks out. the problem is they give us no direct guideline, so we are really flying blind with it. abbie would know best though.

I've sold multiple photographs with my signature added. It might depend on how your signature looks weather they print it or not.

*When* do you find out that FAA will not sell one of your photos because of their signature guidelines ?

Weird rule. Lots of pictures on FAA have sayings, quotes, etc etc as a feature of the image. Then "no signature" ? Strange

I don't believe that is a 'rule'. As Menega suggested, it's best to check with Support to get the skinny on signatures.

I don't believe this is a rule. If your signature is artistic, it will print. If it is a standard font, too large or accompanied with a copyright symbol, it may not print. Abbie will probably chime in with the official verdict, so wait for that. Barbara, your signature is no problem, in my opinion. It looks quite nice.

"it's like that because they are often ugly, and customers wouldn't want that on their walls anyway."

Hmmmmm.....

you'll find out when they reject the order. if it has words, then i don't think they care. they seem to care more for large ones, or huge block letters - ©2014 MIKE SAVAD written on the bottom - that won't print. but if it's faded it will be fine. they don't want the customer returning things.

Patricia is quite correct

IN YOUR FACE signatures - no
Plain font typed onto images - no
if across the image - no
© - normally no

However a placed business signature - normally yes
handwritten - if in keeping yes
Faded watermark small and unobtrusive - yes

Okay, it did sound strange, more like a rumor than a "rule".

This is nice to know. Thanks for the clarification!

Thank you all for the feedback, I appreciate it. I am happy to have clarification on this because I have been wondering about it for awhile.
