Linking To Etsy

Is it okay to put a link to my Etsy shop in my product description for selling my originals? I haven't found any rules that say I can't. Thanks!

I have opened a Etsy shop:
https://www.etsy.com/people/wot53?ref=si_pr

Is there a way to offer a FAA quality print to a customer?

We will drop ship to where you want

Warren,

ETSY recently changed their rules that allow you to drop ship to your ETSY customer, so now you could get the order from ETSY and fill it from FAA.

The only real challenge you will have is that it is not possible to offer different types of product in a single ETSY listing. For example, with ETSY you can list different prices for different sized photos, but you cannot list different prices for metal, canvas, acrylic, etc. In that case you would have to list a Canvas version of your image, another listing for a metal version of the image, etc. Each listing can have multiple prices for multiple sizes.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Dave...it does help.

Do we have a listing somewhere of FAA members and their ETSY sites?

Dave...does drop shipping based on a FAA member ordering for an ETSY customer
do away the 30 day guarantee?

glad i found this - i have a couple photos that should have my easy URL: easy.com/shop/cricketnoel

The issue of dealing with the 30 day guarantee is the complication for this set up it seems to me. Would your etsy customer have to return it to you first and then you return it to FAA all withing the 30 day time period? Or would you have to instruct the customer to return it directly back to FAA and then you would get the refund from FAA and in return refund the etsy customer?

You're selling it to them, not FAA. The 30 day guarantee is moot.

It has been awhile since I have used etsy, but if I recall they require you to have some kind of return policy, so I think you would have to deal with it somehow.

The next challenge - how much do you charge for shipping - yes - you can drop ship - but from where the product is shipped to the buyer ?? I can see you lose money real fast on just the shipping. And, if you buy - you get only the cost and no profit from FAA - If they decide they don't like it/want it/ or something - they return it to you - and you return it to FAA - hmmmm - sometimes 30 days is an awfully short period of time. I guess I'm just hung up on the cost of shipping - or is it standard to anywhere in the US (lower 48)?

Abbie Shores

The sale would be handled as an original over there. We would be dealing with you, not the customer

Ok, chiming in here - so in essence, Abbie, as I understand it, the above concerns are correct about 30 guarantee and customer service etc?

Abbie Shores

You would be in total charge of the returns and shipping costs your end,. Our terms would stand re you, as the customer

Are the shipping charges standard for anywhere in the US or is it based on the actual charge to destination.?

So, step by step how does that work?
1.Customer orders and pays at Etsy
2. Then what? We notify FAA to ship to customer? Or is there somehow a link to FAA? If so we would need to know what FAA charges for shipping.
3. Etsy usually does a direct deposit into my checking account. So how does FAA get paid? And how much?

Customer orders and pays at Etsy.
You log into FAA, place an order for the same product, and put your customer's shipping address at the ship to address.
You pay FAA directly when you place your order.
You get paid either directly from Etsy or through PayPal, depending upon how your customer paid you.
You will have to guess at shipping costs because you need to put that into your Esty listing before the customer places the order. This is the most difficult part.

so then Abbie - we would need to know where the print is being shipped from. Seems to me - in most cases - it would be wiser to find a local printer and go from there - at least you'd not be guessing in the dark.

Can anyone tell me how to have linked my Etsy shop to my FB fan page? The same way we can have an FAA shop button- I've seen some fan pages with a button for their Etsy shop...but I can't figure out how to do it...

I was so excited when I saw that Etsy allows drop shipping now. I plan to load a lot of my prints on there and do as Dave describes.

Is there anyone on etsy doing dropshipping from FAA? is it possible to post your listing here so we can see how your are doing it? I havve never used etsy, so I would like to see how it works.

I drop shipped on Etsy since day one there.

Anyway, when I DID have an active Etsy shop, I sold the print as it was described here, and then used FAA to fulfil the order.

I have a smaller (much smaller) Etsy shop than my larger one here. The problem, besides estimating shipping I think, would be also listing on Etsy the sizes that are available here. Most people who shop at Etsy want the standard sizes (8 x 10, 8 x 12, etc.) and not the uncropped images here (10 x 6, or 12 x 7.25, etc.)
Or do you find that to be an issue?

Jeffrey Canha

You give the Etsy buyer 14 days or less to return it to you, since you sold it to them, because you bought it from FAA.

Marilyn - people often want 8x10s.. almost none of my images crop to 8x10. I hate that ratio with a passion. Most of my images I offer on etsy start at 8x12 since that is closest to my native image ratio. Standard mats and frames can be found easily for that size. If people ask for 8x10 I explain this to them and they usually end up buying the print.

I only offer sizes on etsy that are closest to my image uncropped. I simply don't offer the images that are really odd sizes.

Thank you all for your thoughts and insights on combining ETSY and Fine Art America. I'm trying to set up the best possible workflow for selling both originals and prints. Both of these platforms have very strong points, and if one can help support what's being sold on the other, that would be optimal.

Back to estimating shipping .... JC, how did you estimate shipping? We could always play it safe and tack on shipping costs as if going from the farthest points within the US, as from Los Angeles to NY ...if we had a way to know what that is. But we need more info, such as size and weight of a 16"x20" canvas print rolled in a tube vs framed and boxed? Is there a way to estimate shipping somewhere here before actually placing an order?

Susan Schroeder

Under the new Etsy guidelines, anyone using Fine Art America as an outside manufacturing source is required get manufacturing approval from Etsy. The application form is on their website.

Crista Forest

Susan, thanks. I filled out the application.
Now I just need some advice on how to estimate shipping.

Heather Applegate

Crista - I sell both places, but I don't use FAA to fulfill orders - the companies I use have fairly standard shipping rates for prints or canvas - which is all I offer on Etsy. Just over estimate and/or jack up your prices a few more dollars to make sure you cover yourself.
