@ Roy,

Why make it personal and why insult me? You do not have to read the thread, nor do you even have to open it. No one, is "throwing anything in your face". And how is it "my religion"? Do you see any restrictions on this thread? Let's be adults, shall we? This thread is no different than any other here on FAA.

Just by your becoming defensive, (please look up trolling and hijacking), your thread becomes "different" from the others. I merely stated that there had been rules prior to the "experiment".

@ Mike,

Yes Mike and Beth (Abbie) asked that the threads be kept on topic.

[quote]4. Keep to the topic in the main post. ie, no gun politics in a thread about a mass shooting. No talk about registering pressure cookers when talking about the sadness of a bombing etc.[quote]

Whether you consider it insulting, or not, is irrelevant. This was personal and uncalled for:

[quote]One really must consider that this is just Tiny - once more throwing his religion in your face. One of the reasons I don't call myself one of those.[quote]

Can we please keep this thread to the topic?

Thanks.

we are keeping to topic, maybe their religion is to question you, and they are following it, and your doubting them.

I am accused of "throwing religion in your face", by starting a thread that is meant to celebrate the freedoms we all have to express ourselves. Whether it be our faith/religion, sexuality, political standing and yet just moments ago I am sent a private email/message, attacking and mocking my faith, by the very person who accuses me of being "in your face".

Where is the intolerance coming from? On any other issue, behavior like that, would be considered harassment and hate.

Why is it so hard for those who do not agree with "religion", or a persons ability to express it, to just leave it alone? No one is asking you to like it, to change who you are or to accept what is expressed. Why does your lack of belief, make it wrong for me to express my belief?

Tiny is very clear in his main post: "Share your Faith and Religious expression, with art. :) All mediums - photography, painting, sculpture, poetry. etc.. :) ". He clearly invites everybody to post your expression in an art form of all media including poetry. I think that his original post clearly doesn't imply an invitation for any discussion on the topic.

@ Mike,

The thread was not started as forum for discussion, but a means to post "art", that expressed faith/religion. If you would like to start a thread, where we can "discuss" religion, feel free and I may even join in. I did not go there, as I wanted this to be a positive experience for anyone to take part in and not make it divisive. Might you consider, to allow that to happen?

Thanks.

@ Poe,

I like that. :)

To those who have accused me here in this thread and to those who continue to harp and mock. Not everything is how it seems. Not everything, has an agenda.

I recently found out, that my pastor passed away this afternoon. He had two young teenagers and had just remarried, after losing his wife two years ago to cancer. My wife, myself and my children, have not been going to the church long, but we had all grown to love and respect this pastor. He spoke the truth (as he knew it), with love, but also with conviction.

There are moments in our lives, when our faith and our very person, are shaken to the core. Regardless of the religion or faith expressed in this thread, it is a joy to see it and it is peace to my soul. Thank you.

I do not want to argue about this any further.

Have a great evening everyone. :)

@ Sandra,

You are very welcome! (You will have to also thank Beth/Abbie, for allowing it)

I, like you, have enjoyed seeing the different images in this thread. Thank you for your prayers. He passed away very suddenly, on Friday afternoon. This morning's service, is going to be rough. :( One of the big concerns now, is for his teenage son and daughter. They lost their mother two years ago and now their father. :( I can't imagine how they are feeling right now.

Personifying religious persecution: skeptism, mocking, gossip, and anger
Photography PrintsArt Prints

Whatever you believe in takes faith at one point or another. You believe that the chair you are sitting in will hold you up. If the chair creaks, you question its stability, but you still sit in it. You may even wiggle it with your butt to see if it creaks more. That is faith. Faith is simple. Simple enough for a child to understand. In fact, children understand it better than adults. They don't complicate it with stuff like adults do.
Photography Prints

I asked myself what does Mercy mean? What does it look like? The story from the Bible (John 8:1-11) about a woman who was caught in the act of adultery/prostitution came to my mind after seeing a news clip about a girl being stoned to death (about three years ago). I was shocked when I saw the images of a woman lying at the feet of her accusers. A woman being stoned in this day and age? Unbelievable, but true. She had fallen in love with someone from a different religion and was killed for it.
It's easy to accuse. It's easy to want justice for wrong doing. It's easy for judgement to be clouded from anger. Not so easy to be merciful. Jesus was the perfect example of Mercy. The only one who has the right to judge showed mercy.

On a philosophical basis, I can say that everyone exercises faith, almost every day. If you go to work, you expect drivers to drive on the "right" side of the road, even if you are in one of those backwards countries. You expect to be paid for your efforts, and you expect it to be enough to allow you survive, and hopefully do a little more. If you sit on a chair, you expect it to hold you up, usually without reviewing all the calculations done by the designer. We invest our love and affection in those we believe are worthy (at least potentially) of that effort. If you create an image, you may exhibit faith that you have the ability to convey something of value to others. Sometimes faith is misplaced, but we all place some trust somewhere.

This thread was created before the change in rules, back to no "discussion" about religion and/or politics. This thread is an image thread. Post an image with a description, in order to be indexed by Google, but it is not the place to share what we think faith is, or our feelings regarding religion.

I have made the thread inclusive of all religious faiths.

Please keep comments, to a description of the art and responses related to the images being posted.

I am not sure how much more clear Abbie or myself can make it, to keep comments on posts to descriptions of the work and not about your feelings on faith and/or religion.

Drew, if you can't contain yourself and the concept is just a little too tough, please don't post here. Others are here to share their art, not make jabs at peoples faith and religion. Please be respectful.

Thanks :)

@ Tiny "Drew, if you can't contain yourself and the concept is just a little too tough, please don't post here. Others are here to share their art, not make jabs at peoples faith and religion. Please be respectful."

Your lack of understand of expression of faith is not to negate my nor anyone else's expression of faith whether that faith is reason based or fable based.
A few descriptive lines for image inspiration clarification, you only have problems with when it clashes with your own faith.

Your lack of respected, as pointed out before through your constant hounding of me when I stay well with the premise of the topic of a thread and within this forum's bylaws is nothing more than harassment under the guise of civility.

I am sure Abbie can speak for herself and once again, please stop attempting to stifle other's expression of faith that differs from your own.

If I wanted to stifle anyone's expression of faith, I would have created an image thread specifically intended to display images of my own personal faith. Do what you will, as there is only so long I will bang my head against a dense board. It will end up being me who gets in trouble anyways, for giving you any attention about this.
