You are welcome, the storm was quite a distance from our location of the boat. The Gulf of Mexico is noted for producing some very dramatic weather conditions and cloud formations....glad you like it.....Michael

Please folks, it is deeply appreciated, keeping this thread on purpose .... about SEASCAPES. There's plenty available depicting the motion and moods of water and of the endless array of colors in sky and clouds, without major focus upon bridges, or upon the people, dogs, etc playing in the surf.

Nature provides such unlimited beauty for us to capture, share and to enjoy.


People living near an east coast, have the sunrises.






People living near a west coast have the sunsets.

This is more of a Louisiana bayou ,hope it's OK .

My hometown of Plymouth, Massachusetts is 103 square miles. I have lots of territory to cover. This was taken in the south section of town called White Horse Beach, Manomet. I like to drive out here during the off season when it's not as crowded. This was taken in winter two years ago. I have yet to survey the damage in this area since the Blizzard of 2013. There were houses lost to the sea.

Many people live closer to the beaches and coastlines and it is what they have available to them, for pictures. I live some distance from the coast and it is why I have to paint pictures of seascapes. There are so many "moods" and changing colors to capture and it is why this thread is such a pleasure to take the time to view ... and why the continuation seemed important.

Seascapes can portray a wide variety of feelings. In this image I wanted to juxtapose the tense flow of the water against the calmness of the background. The pier, I feel, was just an added bonus in taking the shot, but also helps pull your eye through the picture space.

These are some of my oil paintings of the coast in southern england. They feature the towns of Bournemouth and Southampton. The oil paintings are painted at a size of 16"x 20" on canvas.

Thank you Shasta for continuing the seascape thread. You can tell by the straw color of the grass that it is early Spring. I am on top of the hill where historic Gurnet Light sits in Saquish, part of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Saquish is only accessible by four-wheel drive or two feet. It's an eleven-mile walk round trip though. If driving, a permit is needed. Once a year, they offer free rides to tour the lighthouse.
