The commercials to see what such high dollar amounts gets someone for a :30 second spot.

Niners because the Ravens ... you know ...

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/03/2013 - 10:08 AM

...know what??

Posted by: Heather Applegate on 02/03/2013 - 10:13 AM

Niners, because I'm a Patriots fan.

Posted by: Peter Chilelli on 02/03/2013 - 10:17 AM

My take is based on my own experience. The Niners coach is the guy I loved to play for...fiery,emotional...one of us!! Hooorahh

BUT, the Ravens coach is the guy I won championships with..calm,collected,cerebral...grace under pressure coach.

My pick=Ravens

Posted by: Juergen Roth on 02/03/2013 - 10:19 AM

Heather got it ... because I wanted to watch Brady bunch today ...

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/03/2013 - 10:20 AM

Heather, that doesn't make any sense because if I was a Patrioit's fan, I would want the Ravens to win. Why?? Because then I could say, no wonder the Patriots lost to the Ravens...look at how good the Ravens are, I would hate to think that my team lost to a second rate team. :)

Posted by: Janice Drew on 02/03/2013 - 10:41 AM

I, too, am a New England Patriots fan. Sorry to the Raven's fans, but they remind me of a bunch of thugs. I dislike them more than the Jets especially that arrogant bigmouth Terrell Suggs. Therefore, I'm rooting for San Francisco to win. I would like to see Randy Moss get a Super Bowl ring.

With that said, I wonder if there would be a sequel to "The Blind Side" if the Ravens won. Michael Oher is playing in his first Super Bowl.

Posted by: Leslie Manley on 02/03/2013 - 11:50 AM

Well I am a Pittsburgh Steeler fan but I am rooting for the Ravens! Because: as a dog lover and advocate - most of these guys are dog lovers - rescue dogs and are advocates for animal welfare - there are a lot of good guys on this team - so that's my take on it!

Posted by: Anne Norskog on 02/03/2013 - 11:55 AM

I am sorry the Seattle Seahawks did not make it to SB-47. San Fran is in our general area so they have my pick today.

Posted by: Dan Carmichael on 02/03/2013 - 11:55 AM

Neither. This is an art forum. Who cares.

Posted by: Bold Coast Photography on 02/03/2013 - 11:56 AM

Well I'm a life-long 49er fan so...

Posted by: Janice Drew on 02/03/2013 - 11:59 AM

I'll go with these, because they can really fly.
What's that got to do with football? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Baltimore
1. I used to live in the DC area and although I was in Virginia, Maryland is a part of the MD/VA/DC triad - and I like the Orioles
2. I saw a TV show once about a very nice man whose name I can't recall, but he wound up with the Ravens - whether he
is still with them or not I have no idea, but liking him made me like the team.

Posted by: Joy McKenzie on 02/03/2013 - 1:15 PM

49ers 'cuz well I'm a San Francisco transplant...and 'gotta support the team'. Actually I'm a Patriots fan (Boston born and raised!)

Being a life-time resident from New Orleans, Louisiana its Food, Culture, Historic Landmarks and Architecture, and Citizens. The events being held in the city all week have been just fantastic, the excitement throughout the entire city is just the best, there is no other place in the world quite like New Orleans, Louisiana I am a 49'ers fan as well. CBS host a one hour documentary on New Orleans and one of he best PR I have seen in a very long time. Good luck to both teams, Cheers and tis the season here in New Orleans Happy Mardi Gras and from the Host City, Happy Super Bowl Sunday to everyone at FAA Michael Hoard

Beautiful photos Greg, Bold Coast Photography, Gurgeon and Harrold

Posted by: Jean Moore on 02/03/2013 - 2:14 PM

I became neutral when the Broncos lost to the Ravens. I'll just be enjoying the game today.

Posted by: Janice Drew on 02/03/2013 - 2:35 PM

After Katrina, this Super Bowl is good for New Orleans and its people. Lots to celebrate. Another thing I love about Super Bowl Sunday is the food. I'm preparing baked stuffed shrimp for dinner. I made a chocolate cake with mocha frosting.

Love sports in general.

Gregory, your excellent photo of the raven reminds me of Dan Fogelberg's "As the Raven Flies"...good rock song.

Posted by: Gene Gregory on 02/03/2013 - 3:33 PM

I woke up Jake the wonder dog this morning & showed him 2 pictures. One of a 49er helment, and one of a Ravens helment. He took a leak on the 49ers and went back to bed.
Coincidence? ..... I think not .

Posted by: Gershwin Smud on 02/03/2013 - 3:50 PM

I'm betting on the Cowboys

Posted by: Michael Hoard on 02/03/2013 - 3:53 PM

Wow Janice that sounds fantastic enjoy your labor of cooking and the game. Bon Appetite Cheers Michael

Posted by: Michelle Calkins on 02/03/2013 - 4:05 PM

Oh man...I'm a Lions fan...yes, I said it out loud. I just keep thinking - someday? That disrespectful "hard handshake" by the Niners coach with the Lions' coach after a great and close game - and the fact that he was a U of M quarterback and I'm a Michigan State fan makes me say - GO RAVENS!

Posted by: Arlene Carmel on 02/03/2013 - 4:06 PM

GO RAVENS!! (I have to say that or chance a divorce.) lol Seriously, I live in Baltimore, so the Ravens are my team.

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/03/2013 - 4:20 PM

Hiya guys,

The reason I want the Ravens to win is I lived in Baltimore until I was 27 years old. I grew up in East Baltimore (Highlandtown) when The Baltimore Colts were the football team of choice. Unfortunately, I'm think the 49ers will win, I am rooting for the Ravens.

Arlene, where in Baltimore do you live?

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/03/2013 - 4:24 PM

I didn't mention that I am a NY Giants fan. You know who they are don't you? They are the World's Champions - at least until sometime tonight. Because of how they won the Super Bowl last year, I'm good for at least 5 years. :)

Posted by: Arlene Carmel on 02/03/2013 - 4:41 PM

@Dan....... No need to repeat what Janice said, but when we enter these discussions, we often open the galleries of those who participate and comment on their work. As we feel more comfortable with those we "meet' in these discussions, we are more likely to open up dialogue or discussions pertaining to those galleries or to art in general. I had never been to your gallery before. Your work is magnificent. You are a talented photographer. If the social side of FAA is not for you, please don't bring a bah humbug to the conversation. Just join in and enjoy the ride or skip over the mundane. Life is way to short.

@Hal......the Pikesville area. I am a transplant from Harrisburg, PA. where I raised my children. My husband has lived here all his life.

Posted by: Janice Drew on 02/03/2013 - 5:08 PM

Yes, Harold, they beat our Patriots in the Super Bowl. :) Not once, but twice and ruined our perfect season in 2007. That is why I want Randy Moss to get a Super Bowl ring. He recently stated he still hasn't recovered from that loss.

Seriously, though...the Giants deserved to win both of those games. The Patriots were not on their game.

Enjoy the game, commercials, halftime and good food everyone. Thanks, Michael.

Gregory, what a beautiful bird. when I lived out in the desert in CA - I did a couple of paintings wit Ravens.

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 02/03/2013 - 6:55 PM

I actually shot that bird in Yosemite. So he may be rooting for SF.

Posted by: John Crothers on 02/03/2013 - 11:29 PM

I pick the Ravens!

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 02/03/2013 - 11:30 PM

Good timing, John! Now if you can find somebody to take your bet, you're good!

Posted by: John Crothers on 02/03/2013 - 11:35 PM

Hey nobody said I had to pick BEFORE the game!

Posted by: Gregory Scott on 02/03/2013 - 11:37 PM

Most of the bookies say that, I hear.

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/03/2013 - 11:39 PM

Well gosh almighty and shiver me timbers but the Ravens were triumphant.:) I have to admit this was an exciting Super Bowl and the best team won. My brother, who lives in Baltimore County called me tonight and said that his neighbors are setting off firecrackers and people are marching up and down his block raving about the Ravens. I'm very happy for them but all I have to say is....wait until next year, you will see. My Giants will be making a comeback.:)

Posted by: Jean Moore on 02/03/2013 - 11:41 PM

It was a good game, especially after the power outage.

Posted by: Michael Hoard on 02/04/2013 - 12:00 AM

Congrats to the team and all the fans, it was a good game, and the lights going out that indeed changed the momentum of the entire game. All the new commercials were funny, seemed very busy. I liked the one of Oprah though it was a sponsored by Jeep, that alone would have been a great commercial and Oprah speaking without the commercial compnay attached to it.

Posted by: Harold Shull on 02/04/2013 - 12:05 AM

M favorite commercial was the one featuring the voice of the late Paul Harvey narrating “God Made a Farmer” for a Dodge Ram commercial

Posted by: Jean Moore on 02/04/2013 - 12:07 AM

I agree Hal, that one was spectacular, very engaging, somewhat unexpected.

Posted by: Christine Till on 02/04/2013 - 12:10 AM

You are soooooo sentimental, Hal :-) But I admit: It's a very touching commercial, almost as good as Bud's.

Congrats to the Ravens, although I cheered for the Niners. Hats off to them!

Posted by: Dan Carmichael on 02/04/2013 - 12:18 AM

One good thing: at least it wasn't on Fox Sports. None of those childish, amateurish transformer-like animations covering 25% of the screen, jumping around distracting and obscuring. When you see pros at work, it really illustrates just how amateurish Fox Sports productions are.

Posted by: Dan Carmichael on 02/04/2013 - 12:23 AM

And here's a link to the Paul Harvey commercial. Whatever ad agency came up with this one should be nominated for the prize of the century.

Thanks Dan.

I told you the "So God Made a Farmer" commercial should get the prize of the century!

Dan,

That ad was not their original idea. They worked with Farm.com to create the ad. You can see the orginial here...
