technically this is a religious topic and shouldn't be here because that subject is banned.

feel free to continue to post

@Mike

On the surface, I agree. But beth once told me in a private communication that art is an inherent part of religion and politics.

So is this a religion related thread, or is it art-related?

On the other hand, we can profit from this. Wanna' make a wager on how many posts it will take until it takes a really bad turn (and it will)?

Posted by: Nik Olajuwon Shumway on 02/01/2013 - 11:23 PM

well said and lets hope it doesn't take a bad turn.....

Posted by: Vivian ANDERSON on 02/01/2013 - 11:33 PM

What if the request was for portraits of John Wayne? This thread is not a discussion thread, especially about religion,Christ and otherwise. It is a thread showing Artists' images , without comment..........hardly room to find an argument, then. Who would be so small-minded to complain? Who will cast the first stone (lol)?????

A guy having an interesting "trip" at an All Good Music Festival inspired my jesus-like interpretation:

I'm wondering if the artist was not having an "interesting trip" when that was created. LOL.

Why not open up the thread to more art?

How about interpretations of Muhammad, Buddha, etc.?

Posted by: Nik Olajuwon Shumway on 02/02/2013 - 12:05 AM

that's a great idea

Asking people to post pictures of Mohammad is asking for trouble. It's insulting Islam. And from what I've seen, FAA is not interested in being a forum for asserting freedom of speech rights as trumping the rights for religious people to censor things, it just wants to do business without angering particular groups.

Posted by: Isabella F Abbie Shores on 02/02/2013 - 5:55 AM

I have changed the title of this thread. Please do not discuss religion in this thread or the thread, and the person discussing, will be removed from the forum.

I hope you didn't think I was discussing anything, Beth. I was just trying to alert people to the likelihood that following the suggestion would offend Muslims

Posted by: Isabella F Abbie Shores on 02/02/2013 - 10:19 AM

No Paul...it was a general warning :)

Posted by: Vivian ANDERSON on 02/02/2013 - 10:26 AM

I believe the Aboriginals here in Oz disallow showing images of their dearly departed. This thread is a good way, without rancour, to learn of cultures with such beliefs, so as not to cause offence......just to celebrate Art.

Just art please.

Brian,

How did you post those? Normally using that FAA link produces a posted image with the domain name in the black area at bottom, plus the blue FAA icon. Neither has it.

On top of that, the leftmost one has no "Buy a print starting at..." line.

Here is a 1575 picture of the Garden of Eden, Jacob de Backer, showing Eve, Adam and God. Interestingly I stumbled across artists portrait within 24 hours, he must appreciate having his work aired. The portrait was nowhere near his work You can click to enlarge

@Dan Carmichael -

Dan, I grab the URL from my artist web site http://brian-wallace.artistwebsites.com (shown at the bottom of both images as far as my end shows).

I don't know why sometimes one shows a price and another doesn't. It doesn't matter to me on a discussion thread since I'm only trying to get the image to appear. I'd actually like the image to appear without any additional information really.

Antonin Gauthier I looked at your images and I think I found the one you're talking about. You're right, it would cause an uproar LOL Interesting sculptures you do. I like the angry matron (my frame of mind right now LOL)
