PAINTINGS OF LANDSCAPES AND MORE ..............

There are two distinct kind of artists, those who create art involving their visual cortex and those who create art from an emotional view point, my work is largely based on my visual senses so things that I see, like a sliver of light hitting the weathered bark of a hundred year old tree or a certain kind of cloud formation often trigger my creative juices. For me, painting landscapes offer abundant visual possibilities but enough about just pretty pictures.
In recent years I have taken to paint more of our natural eco system with the realization that all those things that make for good landscapes like blue skies and clean air can no longer be taken for granted. The smog images coming from the industrialized areas of China, the slaughter of large parts of the rain forest, the increasing erosion of hillsides resulting in landslides and deaths are a symptom of a dysfunctional human condition.
This situation can only be changed by governments that actually care for the people they supposedly serve. Most politicians concern themselves with power and pensions and fail to comprehend the inconvenient truth that our existence is part of complex balanced eco system that will eventually take a toll in their family's health and and lives regardless of how many votes they get. So voters, do your part..vote responsibly !!!
Many of my of my images are not only beautiful to look at but what I feel merits more attention in keeping our environment as healthy as possible given our systemic population growth. I am basically self taught and the paintings I show here are hand painted, (not traced or copied directly from photographs) but usually altered enough from the real locations to create the feeling of a scene that originally peaked my interest. I take great care to create paintings in the most ecological responsible way possible given the tools I use.
