Description
The final Spinnaker run during the Wednesday evening races in early September on Lake Erie's Long Point Bay. The local Yacht club features weekly races on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. The bay's size is about 400 square miles making it possible to have a race course as long as 30 to 50 miles, this makes for some great races. Once a year an international race occurs lasting from 3 to 5 days. it runs from Cleveland, to Erie PA., then to the north shore harbour of Port Dover. After an overnight rest, it continues to Buffalo NY., and finally ending at Point Abino, once more on the north shore of the lake. I have crewed this race a couple of times on a 40 ft. C&C and thouroughly enjoyed myself. Being on the water is my passion whether it is sailing or "stinkpotting" doesn't mater as long as I can't see land. I have painted a lot of sea scenes and never tire of the challenge that painting water or the waves and surf rolling to the beach.
