FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Starting immediately and running through next Thursday evening, September 28, 2014, Joseph C. Hinson is pleased to announce he is offering a reduced price on an exclusive print available only through Fine Art America.

"It's a train shot," Hinson said with a chuckle. "No one who knows me should be too surprised."

Shot in September, 2005, the high resolution digital exposure shows a four engine Lancaster and Chester Railway train passing the historic railroad depot in Heath Springs, South Carolina enroute to the Archer Daniels Midland plant in Kershaw.

"This shot is historically significant because it was the last years of the end cab era on the L&C, the small switcher type engines they used for many years. With the increase in business over the years, they felt the need to get bigger engines." On this day, the railroad used four of their small engines and Hinson caught them passing the old Southern Railway depot in Heath Springs. "A lot of the reason they went with the bigger engines was because of the purchase of this old line from Catawba to Kershaw. The first of the bigger engines came on within a year or two of them getting this line. So it's a bit of a historically significant photograph in that regard."

The Heath Springs depot once served both passengers as well as a freight agent. The line was owned by the Southern Railway as part of their route from Marion, North Carolina to just below Eastover in Richland, South Carolina. Much of it has been taken out of service and abandoned over the years, but the portion in Lancaster remains intact and is now owned by the Lancaster and Chester.

Hinson says the photograph is exclusive to his Fine Art America site at this time. "I have not uploaded it to Flickr or Railpictures. It's just on my site here."
