FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Joseph C. Hinson Photography and Joe the Photog Dot Com are pleased to announce three different Carolina Southern Railroad images are now for sale. "Now that we know the fate of the Carolina Southern, I felt it was a good time to revisit these photographs," Hinson said. It was recently announced that the R.J. Corman Railroad Group would purchase the Carolina Southern from current owner Ken Pippin. This move will effectively make the Carolina Southern a fallen flag railroad. R.J. Corman plans to run the railroad as their Carolina Lines Division.

"If I knew then what I know now, I would have made a better effort to get down and shoot this railroad before they shut down," Hinson said. "Still, I'm pretty pleased with the shots I have of them."

The first of three 14X11 canvas prints offered as Limited Time Promotions is a July, 2006 shot of three units pulling a train into Conway.

"If they had asked me, I would have suggested putting the streamliner up front," Hinson said with a chuckle. "But these three engines are all neat in their own way. My hunch is that the GP30 has turned it's last wheel making money for any railroad." The F unit in the middle is gone from the railroad. Out of the two owned by Carolina Southern, one was cut up for scrap and the other was sold.

The next shot is of the one of a kind Pullman Green paint scheme GP18 sitting in Mullins, South Carolina just after Christmas.

"In 2005, we went down to a couple of shortline railroads in the area. The Carolina Southern was taking the day off, but I got this shot, the only shot I have of this engine."

The final image is from a passenger excursion that ran out of Conway in 2004 led by the GP18 #943.

"That engine is no longer with us," Joe Hinson said. "They finally just scrapped her, but it was a hit among railfans for the Atlantic Coast Line-inspired purple paint on an old Norfolk & Western high hood locomotive."

But there is something else different about the image. "I lost some images in a hard drive crash a few years ago. The high resolution version of tis image was one that I lost. But I was able to recover the image using software that makes it look, in part, more like a painting. Most importantly, it increases the file size. So I was able to save a scene that cannot possibly be shot again."

The print is made onto a 14 inch by 11 inch stretched canvas and comes ready to hang. It's on sale for a reduced cost of $65. "This is roughly a half price sale," Hinson said. "Fine Art America reduced some of the overhead price for the production and I reduced a bit of my profit." The promotion runs until January 31 or until ten prints are sold.
