The journey and passion of two time Master's Golf Tournament winner, Bubba Watson, is captured in a remarkable new painting by Atlanta Artist, Steven Lester.
A commercial artist and illustrator for more than 30 years, Steven's work has appeared in publications such Sports Illustrated and USA Today and he has won more than 100 national and international awards. Steven has been a Vice President for two advertising agencies and he is a former Creative Director for Turner Broadcasting System, and created work for the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Hawks. Although his subjects and settings have taken him all over the world and vary quite widely, his greatest love is always painting something related to sports.
You will note that Steven's style is impressionistic and often expressionistic, utilizing loose, wet and dry paint techniques. This painterly and interpretive technique lends itself well to the action and drama of the athletics arena.
He is always experimenting with mixed media techniques, often combining acrylics, watercolors, dyes, gauche, charcoal, graphite and even torn tissue. From room-sized canvases to painting with sponges, Steven has pushed the envelope. In recent years he discovered digital media and not surprisingly, has perfected a combination of traditional painting techniques and digital painting processes. He calls it convergent, mixed media painting.
