Artist Julie Turner Exhibiting At Little Treasures 2014, Galleria De Marchi, Bologna, Italy

April 24th, 2014 - Pottstown, PA

About the Artist

“I enjoy exploring my imagination and technology,” Julie Turner says. In her paintings, those explorations are given free rein, using her eye for color and familiarity with a broad range of techniques and media to create a distinctive body of work. Skilled as both a traditional painter and a digital artist, she currently works mostly in acrylics on canvas, often using her hands to apply the paint. That handmade quality gives her paintings a tactile appeal, which also extends over into her digital giclée prints. And her vibrant palette lends her images a power that makes a strong play for the viewer’s attention.

Turner calls her work “a blend of Abstract Expressionism and Expressionism,” and her paintings effortlessly cross the divide between representation and abstraction. Also a talented photographer, her works show off her sense of how to frame and compose the action of each scene, making them dynamic and balanced. “My artwork is a direct reflection of what inspires me, ” the artist says, and that sense of inspiration is readily apparent in her work.

Many of Ms. Turner's works are currently under representation by Agora Gallery, 530 West 25th Street, Chelsea Art District, New York, NY. She will also be exhibiting art at "Little Treasures 2014", Galleria De Marchi, Bologna, Italy - April 12-24, 2014.
