Arizona Highways Finalist - Rich Helmer
March 1st, 2015 - San Tan Valley, AZ
It's a great honor to be chosen as one of thirty finalists in the 2014 - 2015 Arizona Highways Photo Contest. Rosa del Desierto was taken in the San Tan Mountains of Arizona on a partly cloudy evening just after sunset. The sky exploded with beautiful hues of purple and pink, perfectly complimenting the desert flowers just before closing up for the night. Instead of shooting the image with a higher iso or off camera flash, I opted for a long exposure to bring motion and soft texture from the sky into the scene. I think it came out pretty nice.
