The Yellow-Rumped Warbler (Setophaga coronata) is a species that resulted by the merger of three species into one in 1973 by the American Ornithologist's Union. There are proposals to separate the one present species into four species. This species breeds across North America, and migrates to southern United States, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. During breeding season, mixed coniferous woodlands are preferred habitat. They may be found at mountainous elevations or at sea level. The Yellow-Rumped Warbler is a relatively large warbler, measuring about 5.5 inches in length and about 0.43 ounces in weight. This warbler feeds mostly on insects, gleaning from leaves and also flitting up to catch flying insects. At times when insects are sparse, they may eat fruit and seeds.
