Description
Even though this butterfly is found in many localities west of the Mississippi River, Arizona has selected it to be the Arizona Sate Butterfly. It is also known as a two-tailed swallowtail, though this creature here seems to have lost its starboard horizontal stabilizer somewhere along the path of life.

This is really beautiful with that lovely blossom against the brilliant colors of this fella or lady. I'm glad it held still long enough for you to capture this. L/F Featured in American Desert Southwest.
