Description
As I was watching these canoeists,I was thinking..they are floating on one of the worlds most beautiful lakes, fed by glaciers high in the Rocky Mountains.Behind them march thousands upon tens of thousands of trees, climbing up the slopes of towering peaks which once were the bed of a shallow sea, and were thrust upward with power we cannot begin to imagine, to form peaks thousands of feet above the level of the present oceans. And this is hundreds of miles from the closest ocean. And above it all,the ever changing sky,now blue and serene, but in another moment, dark and storm-tossed. I felt how tiny we all are compared to what surrounds us every day. It is so seldom we stop to think how much we have to be thankful for and appreciate the beauty that we have been given.

Jasper National Park is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies, spanning 10,878 km2 (4,200 sq mi). It is located in the province of Alberta, north of Banff National Park and west of the City of Edmonton. The park includes the glaciers of the Columbia Icefield, hot springs, lakes, waterfalls and mountains. Wildlife in the park includes elk, caribou, moose, mule deer, white-tailed deer, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, black bears, coyotes, beavers, Rocky Mountain pikas, hoary marmots, grey wolves, mountain lions, and wolverines.
This park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, together with the other national and provincial parks that form the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, for the mountain landscapes containing mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes, waterfalls, canyons, and limestone caves as well as fossils found here.
Major river systems originating in the park include the North Saskatchewan River (part of the Hudson Bay basin), and the Athabasca and Smoky rivers (part of the Arctic Ocean basin).

In the art world, I was initially trained as a Commercial Artist and Illustrator and eventually explored many other methods of art/style as well as other mediums. I work in pencil, ink, acrylics, watercolor and oil pastels. I have also enjoyed mosaic design and application, floor murals, wall murals, collapsible screens, floor cloths, graphic design. Explored sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, hand painted furniture, refinishing old frames with gold leaf or faux finishes, interior design and interior decorating.

With the advent of digital cameras I came to really enjoy photography both as an artistic expression as well as a foundation for capturing interesting and exciting compositions to be painted later.

My recent creative endeavour was graduating from a certified Cosmetology Program (hairstylist and esthetics) in March 2009.
