Description
This landscape photograph taken at Lake Desolation in New York. You can see the autumn trees on the edge of the lake, with the water in the background.
Lake Desolation is a hamlet in the town of Greenfield, New York. Greenfield is located in Saratoga County. The town was first settled in 1786. It is 67.7 square miles, 0.3 miles of which is water. Lake Desolation is a mountaintop lake that is 40 feet deep. As its name indicates, Lake Desolation is a wild and weird body of water. It sits on top of the Kayadrossera Mountain range, on the border of Greenfield and Providence. The waters run first westernly then northerly into the Sacondaga.
