Description
In the fall of 2014, I took a trip to Lake Desolation in upstate New York. I took my camera along of course and walked around the property we were staying at to see what I could find. I came across this small wooden bird house made out of small pieces of wood, that resembled a log cabin. The roof of the birdhouse was made out of an old New York state license plate. It sat on the corner of a wooden dock, with the bright green foliage of the woods behind it.
Lake Desolation is a hamlet in the town of Greenfield, New York. Greenfield is located in Saratoga County. The town was first settled in 1786. It is 67.7 square miles, 0.3 miles of which is water. Lake Desolation is a mountaintop lake that is 40 feet deep. As its name indicates, Lake Desolation is a wild and weird body of water. It sits on top of the Kayadrossera Mountain range, on the border of Greenfield and Providence. The waters run first westernly then northerly into the Sacondaga.
