You have done an amazing job capturing quite an ominous scene...the background looks like an oil refinery! V

Thanks, Mike!

Wow !!!! How amazingly well you've depicted the almost tragically surreal atmosphere of Copsa Mica. :)...... Fantastic work, Danu !!!!!! f,v, SU

Merçi, Ana Maria! ai dreptate, n-as fi trait acolo nici sa-mi dea un milion!N-am mai fost de ani de zile pe acolo dar as fi curios, ca si tine!

In spite of the darkness it looks like the bright colors of nature are still trying to heal the place . .though the poor crocodile looks a bit shell shocked and the person - not so sure they are going to enter the glistening water .. . Wonderful painting f/v

One SUMMER, when I was still in my native Romania, I was travelling near a little industrial town called Copsa Mica (who lived, before the revolution, exclusively from the chemical factory near by; an extremely polluant and destructive one, everything there was black, covered in the black sooth resulted from the production of the "negru de fum" (black of smoke, literally, not so sure what is the use - rubber? industrial paint?). The roofs, the few trees, the grass, eveerything was black or grey. It was like entering in a post-atomic landscape. And there they were, in the dirty waters of the river, a few gipsy children, bathing, laughing, splashing in the water that could probably kill a whole nord american city only with the toxins, germs and poisons from a bucket of that water...Later on, I found by chance some pictures taken by a National Geographic photographer in the same spot...and that's how this painting was born...the crocodile was initially some log, but giving the circumstances and the mutagenic potential, he (or she) seemed quite at home over there... Now the factory was close, the black and grey are mostly gone...Only the memories are still black and grey...

Excellent portrayal of your memories, really from your spirit and the spirit of the boy who and the gator who defy man's pollution! voted

Thank you, Judy!
