Description
The Glooscap Trail is a section of Highway 2 in Nova Scotia, Canada, which skirts the shoreline of Minas Basin, an arm of the Bay of Fundy, the home of the world's highest tides. Glooscap was a mythical cultural hero of many Indian tribes, including the Mi'kmaq (Micmac) tribes in Nova Scotia. Among his many deeds, he is supposed to have turned himself into a giant beaver and created five islands in the Bay of Fundy, by slapping his huge tail in the water with enough force to stir up the earth.
The legends make quite interesting reading, and there is an excellent write-up at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glooscap.
A beautiful full color book of my favorite paintings and photographs is now available at this address:

You can see a full preview by paging though the entire book. Please use Full Screen to get the best rendition. The book can be ordered directly from Blurb.
Because there is a new high-speed highway which by-passes this beautiful coastal road, it remains a relatively quiet area for camping and other vacation activities.

Janet, This is a beautiful shot, made even better by your description. Thank you for telling us this splendid lore.
Janet Ashworth replied:
Thank you Cecily, and I'm glad you enjoyed the story line. Glooscap legends abound in Nova Scotia, and that item in Wikipedia covers them quite well.
