Title
The Court of O
Artist
Paul Hilario
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
The "O" in the title is opinions - how people see things in black and white.
The grey table symbolizes compromise.
The judge cannot rule correctly so he uses a coin instead to judge whose opinion is correct. He glances at his back to see if anyone is looking at waht he is about to do.
Either one is correct you see and it is all realtive where you stand.
This is where the stairs come in. A staircase is going down or up depending where you are at. In this case the lady showing more skin (viewed as the more liberal person) would go down if she uses the stairs underneath the table. She would go up if she uses the other one at her back. The elevator (at the back) pertains to both directions. In this case the elevator is your grey table.
This painting was inspired by arguments in religion.
