Description
The name of this painting is Sunrise Cactus 1. In this series I painted the background in the tones of the Arizona morning sky tones, coral and pink. I then painted an aloe vera on the canvas that fills the full space. I used the darker tone of the sky tone for shading the green plant. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Aloe vera plants are succulent plants; what I did not know, and found interesting ,is that they are part of the lily family. Some people keep aloe vera plants in their gardens, or in their homes, for the use of their saps inside the leaves. This sap can be used on mild burns and insect bites. If you live in a climate that is warm year-round, like I do in Mesa, Arizona, then you can easily grow these in your yard. However, you still need to monitor them for from as this may kill the plant. For the reason, the plant is often grown indoors. The plant requires little water and little care. (Information Resource - http://www.ehow.com/how_8004695_aloe-vera-plant-growing.html)

Marcia, Add me to your list of fond admirers. (smile). This is so gloriously painted, a delight to see. I like to paint Southwestern-themed paintings. Wish I could get my cacti to look this great. Your work is filled with great colors and the subject matter is always interesting. Your fan, Anne F/V
