This painting was inspired while watching the mountains outside the artists home, as well as driving around to various appointments in her neighborhood. She feels fortunate to live in an area surrounded by these lovely mountains . . . . . . . .. . . . . .When the artist moved from her home state of Oregon in 2008, she expected to miss the wonderful colors found in the vegetation, mountains, hills, and the floors of the Willamette valleys that were her stomping grounds for many years. She was pleasantly surprised to fall in love with the colors found in the Sonoran Desert. Right in her own backyard and neighborhood, everywhere she visits throughout the day, she is greeted with the colors found in her new desert world. . . . . The mountains found in the Sonoran Desert, while nothing like Mt. Hood, Mt St. Helens, or several other mountains in the Pacific Northwest area that she lived amongst for so many years; the Sonoran Mountain hold their own beauty. The wild flowers that the locals wait patiently to have bloom and brighten the hillsides, the saguaro that stand tall and proudly to protect their territory, the color of the rock, much of which is so red it appears almost unreal. These mountains have found their way into this artists heart and creative minds eye. Watching the seasons transition; as well as the sun and moon move throughout the day, bringing an every changing mood and color to the scenery. The Arizona Mountains are gorgeous in their own right. However, the artist still has trouble thinking of some of the mountains as mountains; they just do not match the height and grandeur of the mountains that she grew accustom to in the Pacific Northwest. She works at not calling them hills so that she does not offend the locals, as it truly is not her intention to do so. Nor does it negate her enjoyment of watching the sunrise and set above the mountains.

Marcia, Excellent scenic painting of your rendition of the mountains and scenery outside your home. I wish I had a view like this outside my home. Excellent details of the mountains, beautiful sky and a very detailed cactus with even the ground with its weeds coming into the painting. Excellent imagery, voted, google, tweet and FB promoted
