Description
Summer Light - Original photographic artwork by Heidi Smith.
Yesterday two of my kids asked if we could go out for an evening of photographic fun. My thirteen year old wanted to us to go to the airport to watch planes take off and land. It was the start to a very nice evening. Because the airport is enclosed with chain link fencing, photographic opportunities weren't the best, but it was still quite enjoyable. My five year old wanted to go down to the docks afterward to view the sunset. This particular sunset was probably one of the mildest I've seen...the colors were quite subdued, only a slight peach, orange, and lavender cast over the sky and water. To be honest, I wasn't sure that this sunset image would even be worth posting, but after looking on my desktop screen I immediately fell in love with it. I hope you like it too. Thank you for taking the time to view my images.
Sunset was at 8:02. This image was made at 8:14.

Heidi, yes,I have definitely fallen in love with this! Maybe sometimes we have overload of colour and stimulation and then don't register the subtle so easily. I kept a film in my camera(still use old fashioned film!) for a year because I knew the light on the day out to some gardens was so dull and grey. When I finally had it processed, the colours were the most beautiful and best of any I had taken! The apricot light merging to soft indigo and long still reflections here impart such a beautiful feeling from your lovely evening out.L/F

This is a particularly appealing image, Heidi! Love the composition (lines and angles), the reflection of the masts and lines (especially the diagonal lines, and especially as they appear in the reflection), the colors (especially like the peachy tone to parts of the sky), and the oeverall look and feel of the piece. v & f
