Description
The Lowcountry of South Carolina is one of those places that has yet to be stripped of its regional character with homogenous development and retail shopping centers. One can still find spooky dirt roads lined with chaotic Live Oaks, Palmettos, and Spanish Moss; a place that modern day movies would just create with CGI from imagination. This morning while I was driving down this road, the side lighting was casting such a beautiful highlight between the thick spring growth that I couldn't help but stop and snap a few takes in the middle of the road!

Just purchased Moment of Reflection - Charleston's Botany Bay Boneyard Beach as well as Southern Tree-Lined Dirt Road of Dreams, items 956944 and 956945, by Mark VanDyke. Mark, you nailed it both times. I have vacationed on Edisto Island since I was a child. I'm now 74. I was on Edisto Beach earlier this month. I have been down that road and on that beach many, many times. The prints brought back a flood of memories. Thank you for your beautiful work. Don Hughes, Daphne, AL

Thank you so much, Don for the great words and the purchases! That means so much coming from you with your experience on Edisto Island. You couldn't have left a more meaningful message and I appreciate you taking the time. This area is really quite unique and special. Though I'm not local, it is apparent to me whenever I am photographing how regionally rooted and powerful the landscapes are. It is special to visit as a photographer. Thank you again, Don for the great words and the purchases. I can't wait to get back down that way again!

I was just in that area a few months ago. This is a perfect representation of those roads. Nice work!
