Description
I had surgery on my ankle a few days ago. This means that I have to keep my foot elevated. This gives me an opportunity to catch up on organizing my photos and other things on my computer since I can't get up and move around. Laptops are certainly a handy thing for times like this.
Many years ago, I was going through a particularly difficult time. My marriage was blowing up. Multiple Sclerosis was troubling me even though I didn't know that was the reason for so many of my difficulties at the time. I had yet to be diagnosed. I was raising my two young sons at the time. I was terribly worried about so much. Therapy seemed like a good idea for my sons and for myself. Part of therapy was art. I was instructed to do self portraits. These have been filed away not to be seen by anyone other than my therapist and myself.
I hadn't seen this in all these years. It probably is not an accurate drawing of what I actually looked like. However, this is what I saw when I looked in the mirror.
I used chalk pastels and charcoal on gray paper.
Now I am in a good place both emotionally and physically. I am lucky in so many ways and quite happy. I have loving friends and family. I guess that we all go through rough patches.

So beautiful …even in the rough patches, AnnaJo. I see…PAIN…in your eyes and exhaustion in your fixed features. So humbly yet powerfully rendered. ..v…best to you, AnnaJo. What an expressive share of …thruness…so glad you are in a good place now. You are an inspiration to me…to many.
