Description
A square format extreme macro photograph of a rather pretty self-seeded small geranium from my garden in Sissinghurst, Kent, UK. what you see here are two stamens with grains of pollen coating them. The colourful centre, radiating from the bottom is further stamens (with some pollen grains) and the cerise veins of the petals, with the white background being made up of the non-veined petal sections. This was of course taken with the mighty beast called the Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5X lens on the Canon 7D at a working distance of 1.6 inches. This is my third outing with this beast of a lens, and, in the absence of a specialised speedlite (flash), my latest work around is a hand held (above and to the right, for some shadowing) speedlite, diffused and remotely triggered.........I feel I am beginning to tame the beast :0)

Amazing "super" macro photo of pollen on the stamen of a geranium, captured with lots of skill, full of details and color, and nicely composed! F/L

A wonderful bit of macro genius, Bennett. I have never seen individual grains of pollen. Fascinating. V/F
