Description
This miniature painting will be available for sale at the GEORGE PHIPPEN WESTERN ART MUSEUM in PRESCOTT, ARIZONA starting on MAY 1st, 2021.
Winter of 2019 was a precipitous one in southern Arizona. It even snowed 3 times. So we anticipated an amazing spring wildflower season. Picacho Peak State Park is renowned for its wildflowers from late February to mid March. Janet and I traveled there on March 7th. We were mesmerized by what we saw there that day. Not only the beauty of the Mexican Poppies and Lavender Lupines, but the lushness of the desert wild grasses that covered the usually dry vegetation with GREEN! That day, I determined to do a painting to capture our experience on canvas. A small 8" x 10" canvas as many fine art galleries these days request them. It gives art collectors with limited wall space an opportunity to still find a spot in their home to display them. It also makes them more affordable to purchase.
So here is my effort to share that awesome day at Picacho Peak State Park.

Wow, I can only imagine what this scene looks like in person, because it sure is a beauty in your miniature painting here! You have captured the joy of the brightly colored wildflowers and the spring freshness of the green green grass! And of course, it wouldn't be Arizona without the cactus! This may be a miniature painting, but in my mind, it is lifelike and I want to jump into it and take a walk down that path! L/F

I so want you two to experience Arizona someday, Debbie. Words are not sufficient to convey how much I enjoyed reading your lovely comment! Thank you so much!

I can feel the muted light and slight mist in this scene. That is not always an easy atmospheric quality to capture, but you did it here and it is gorgeous. like/f

There are nothing like the desert flowers during that window of time, during special years, that they are abloom. I have spent time in both New Mexico and Arizona, and the desert speaks to me, as do your exquisite paintings. like/f
