It would appear that willets are EVERYWHERE that I go! I can't resist trying to get better shots of them though. These birds had a stand off for about 10 minutes walking about a foot apart. Which ever way one of the birds turned the other was right there with him. Finally one got more aggressive and gave chase for a few moments.

Thank you so much Heiko. That was in the early fall/late summer when we would go and spend the entire day at the beach under an umbrella. That is SO FUN.

LOL, you seem to be a lucky person, to be right on time on the right place for funny shots. Very nice and again excellent DOF. F/V

Hi Sarah and Jeff. This is a willet , and a very common shore bird in TX. With there wings down they are very drab, but in flight or with wings raised they are so striking. Thanks Larry. I watched these to birds march around at a 1 foot stand off for about 10 minutes before one took action.

Thank you so much Lenore. I appreciate your support. Oh my Robert, you had me going there for a moment. LOL I agree totally. And I do try for action, but sometimes I just can not get the bird to do anything special, so then I resort to clarity of photograph.

In my humble opinion, there is no point in a bird picture unless you have something more than a "bird on a stick". No offense to those who like cataloging and collecting birds, but I like a good story, good detail, action, or a bird not seen very often in your back yard - This has it all and as Lenore says, "great bird shot".
