Description
I was staying at a hotel in South San Francisco, a good three thousand miles from Edgar Allen Poe's stomping grounds back east. As far as black birds go, it's more the territoty of Maltese Falcons than Ravens.
Wedgie, my pal the papillion chihuahua, noticed that I was awake, even though it was some garishly early hour. This meant that I would recieve the Bela Lugosi eyes stare until the time I dressed myself (well, sorta, not really full regalia, just enough to fool anyone I'd encounter out in the world) and took him on a morning walk.
Even though it's too late to make a long story short, I'll try not tpo make this one too much longer. I took Wedgie out, there was a morning mist on the bay. Wedgie did his thing and I spotted the Raven.
There he sat. Not on a bust of Pallas, but on a lamp post. As a swung up the camera, he bolted. And I saw that black bird, that ebony early morning psychedelic psychopomp
Nevermore.
