Description
The first of two "maestas", uses the iconic structure of Madonna and child borrowed from medieval altarpieces. The term maesta, means majesty, creating a throne for the figures. I've depicted a modern-day metaphor, annointing the Sunbeam mixmaster and the manual hand beater via halos on a red Cosco stepstool on a vintage tile floor, in front of a gleaming gold wall. The vintage taffeta apron acts as both a backdrop and suggests something greater.
