Description
This painting is a watercolor (mixed with a bit of tempera) on watercolor paper in the original. It is one of my first and favorite watercolors.
The scene shows a typical winter scene with a lot of snow and a little church/chapel and houses with smoking chimneys in the middle surrounded by needle trees such as fir and spruce /European spruce.
So, you can guess it is a typical European motif/motive/theme: a night or evening as in Bavaria or the Alps. The warmth of the yellow light in the church and the houses illuminates snow and trees next to it. Also it shows the colderness on the one side and also the warmth of the inner church and houses on the other side. The lttle path leads to this warmth. You may open the door and enter to get this warm feeling of security.
It is a typical scene which you might find on a Christmas/x-mas evening or night.
With this painting you bring this wonderful feeling into your house. Also,looking at it you may think of your last or prospective vacation in the mountains.
You can use it as a Christmas card (it is also available here without text) to send your wishes to all your friends and family.
