Hill Country in Autumn - Autumn in the Texas Hill Country along the Frio river as it flow downsteam in the early morning light. This image was captured early one morning as i waded out into the cold waters of the frio river to capture this image with all the fall colors in full display. The river is from aquafers upstream where these beautiful clear emerald waters flow through the park which is dammed at one end to capture some of the water. For fall scenery there is no place better than the Texas Hill country. We had gotten here early at sunrise but the park had not opened and we were concern we would miss the shot but it worked out better as the morning light brought out the cypress tree colors. It also helped that the water was very calm and serene and it reflected the magnificent red to orange colors of bald cypress back into the water from the trees growing along the edge of the banks. You can see old baldy mountain with this nice blue sky and whispy clouds towering in the distance. Texas does have some fall colors you just have to know where to find them. Of course not all years are good as when we have had many years with bad droughts then the leave will just fall off before they change colors, so we got lucky this year and had some great colors of yellow, orange, and reds.
