Description
The Harvest Scene is a Barrier Canyon Style (BCS) panel depicting what some may consider shamanistic themes and symbolism. This particular photograph shows the famous panel in shade for better viewing of it's details. Needless to say this wide angle photograph is not high on details of the panel itself; rather I shot this to include the entirety of the canyon wall on which this amazing Art was created, and is found today. The details in this photograph are of the entire setting of the Harvest Scene, as well as the the Harvest Scene panel as well.
The Harvest Scene in the Maze District of Canyonlands National Park is one of the largest and most complex Barrier Canyon Style (BCS) rock art sites. Because of its location it is difficult to access and is therefore not seen by as many people as other major rock art sites. The pictographs are faded and spend most of the day in direct sunlight, making it very difficult to see details. Any questions, concerns, requests, please contact me at scott@scottsscapes.com. Thank you.
