Description
The inspiration to paint this image of Hank Williams Sr. actually happened over 30 years ago. Since we had no internet to research or find images to use for reference. I would cut out and save any image that I found interesting.
So I have saved the photo and hundreds of other images in a manilla folder.
I have moved several times so the folder has been packed and unpacked over and over..
I recently came across the photo and thought it would work perfect for an acrylic on canvas painting. I felt black and white would be appropriate, since Hank was an "old school" country musician..
Now anyone can find almost any image on a Google search, I found the image of Hank Sr. online, It was a different view of the same photo showing his boot on a foot stool. I drew a closer view from the knees up and put the spot lite effect behind him. I added a touch of green to the spot lite to create a layered effect.
Hank Williams is considered to be one of the most popular American country music singers/songwriters ever.. His music told the story of pain, hard living and heartbreak.
He was born with the Spinal Bifida to a family that had very little money. This was what helped shape his ability to write and sing songs that the world could identify with. He is considered Americas first country music superstars.
