Description
"Grandma's Old Country Porch, is an original oil painting by Janis Tafoya. The old country porch was a place where people would gather to chat over a cool glass of lemonade. It's was a gathering place in days of old, when friends and neighbors would spend time discussing happenings in their communities. Before tv and video cames, there was more face to face communication. The old country porches were often very large, almost an extension of the house.
Grandpa might sit on the porch and whittle and Grandma might sit and
knit and at the same time teaching the grndchildren how to whittle and knit.
It was a close time for families and was a strengthening of the families,
a strengthening of bonds between generations of family members.
My name is Janis Tafoya and I am an oil painter....Many years ago I had the desire to learn to paint but the time was not
right.. I am primarily a self taught artist, learning with the help of videos and books....my paintings spring from the heart and emotions....these paintings are original works of art..For me painting is emotional therapy and when I am creating art I go to my special place, where time stands still, problems are gone and there is at last peace in life. My hope for you is that you will experience some of the peace when you view this artwork... Life is
such a blessing and out Creator wants us to have pleasure as we
go through our day to day activities. We need to always remember
what the past was like so that we can appreciate out ancestors and
all that they did for us....
