Description
This was taken using multiple exposures at the Family Helping Families car show at the Fairfield, California Budweiser Brewery.
Ford's effort to produce the Edsel was an effort to move the Lincoln upscale and to place the Edsel in a position vacated by the now more luxurious Lincolns. Edsel were designed to compete with the Buick and Oldsmobile line of General Motors.
The Edsel was introduced on E-day, September 4, 1957. These cars had many innovations includingt the pushbutton teletouch automatic transmission. warning lights for low engine oil, parking break engaged and engine overheating.
The most memorable feature of the Edsel was the Horse Collar or Toilet Seat Grill.
Today a mint condition Edsel can pull in over $100,000. This one shown here is extremely rare. It is said to be only one of 2 Edsel Rancheros left in existence.
I've done some research and haven't even seen mention of this car as there were very few produced to begin with.
As a side note, the car show has been a huge success and all of the proceeds go to Families Helping Families. This organization delivers food to the poor and elderly as it's main goal but also delivers backpacks to school kids and will help with an occasional automobile repair for many that are in need.
