Description
The artist has often thought that the blooming Saguaro with its many arms looks like a desert bridal party holding their bouquets, with the bride standing proudly in the middle. Especially when paired with the bright blue, clear sky that is so often found in the Sonoran Desert; in specific the skies of Mesa, Arizona.. . .. . . .When the artist moved from her home state of Oregon in 2008, she expected to miss the wonderful colors found in the vegetation, mountains, hills, and the floors of the Willamette valley that were her stomping grounds for many years. She was pleasantly surprised to fall in love with the colors found in the Sonoran Desert. Right in her own backyard and neighborhood, everywhere she visits throughout the day, she is greeted with the colors found in her new desert world . . . . . She has fallen in love with many varieties of the cacti, but has a special place in her heart for the saguaro; it is said that for each arm that a saguaro has it represents approximately 25 years of life. One cannot wonder what interesting stories these cacti must have to tell.

Marcia, I appreciate the thoughts in your description. You've taken for your subject something that is often viewed as tough and prickly, and focused on its delicate beauty. Interesting anomaly! voted

Marcia, can't put my finger on the why, but this is my favorite of your cactus paintings. There is something very special here. Your use of value changes and shading are subtle and beautiful. The elegant little blooms are like bouquets. voted, favorite
