This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1895
Original Title: Santa Claus
Location: North Pole
Santa Claus, quite the dashing fellow you could say. This is him in his younger years, before he became a silver fox. Touches of blond still in his beard, a few years before he dons his trademark clothing.
But he still did the job he does today. Hiring local elves to build toys for good children. And getting other elves to mine coal for the bad ones. Its a hard job but someone has to do it.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...

This is the Saint Nicholas of old (moreso than the Santa of new! lol) He's quite stunning! I love his sumptuous coat....you can see and just imagine how soft it is. And look at the green silk or satin vest and starched white shirt with the pearl buttons. Mike, you really brought out the perfect details so well. Was there snow falling in the original? If you've added the snow, that is truly remarkable :)
Mike Savad replied:
the original was coated in what looked like paint speckles, i got rid of the obvious ones. the coat, looks like its coated in powdered sugar, because its an inside set, i recognize the background. its not too hard to add my own snow, i've done it from image to image, its easier to add it, then to focus on something while it falling. ---Mike Savad http://www.MikeSavad.com

CONGRATULATIONS Mike!!! "Christmas Santa" has been featured in 'Everything In Moderation, Including Moderation!' I never thought of the coal mining elves, but you are right someone had to do it!
Mike Savad replied:
he must have gotten it from some place. and there were a lot of very bad children.. though in those days, burning coal will go a lot longer than burning toys. ---Mike Savad http://www.MikeSavad.com

Is that what Mike looks like? :-)
Mike Savad replied:
a little over a hundred years ago maybe, but since i have no memory of the even, i can only assume i go back in time sometime in the late future. ---Mike Savad http://www.MikeSavad.com
