Description
�It is doubtful that a more noble or wise man Chief Joseph's against the wall, he proved such an able warrior that his guerilla warfare tactics are still a part of the curriculum of West Point. In this painting, the robe-like blanket wrapped around his shoulders gives him apostolic air. In the background I have placed the Cascade Mountains. which were part of the hunting grounds of the Nez Perces. There is a simplicity to this work which is in keeping with Chief Joseph's life."
