Description

I found this store in a narrow alley way in Florence. My back was to the wall and the camera at the side of my face to be able to get the composition I wanted. To complicate things the sun was going down and the alley was already in heavy shadow. I only had one day in Florence so I had to get the shot then or lose it forever. Shot with my Mamiya 645 F8 Film ASA 400. I was on my way home from a one year tour in Kuwait and did not want to miss the chance to see Italy.

This image positively screams "European charm"! Everything about it works -- the darkly toned walls, the old (but obviously quite functional) bicycle, the open fresh veggie market. Well seen and captured, especially with film.
