Description
A Chile Rista At Sunset in Old Mesilla, New Mexico. Shot with Canon T1i ISO 400, 1/180 sec. @ F/6.7, 96mm focal length. The following winter there was bitter cold in New Mexico that killed many palm trees along with this wonderful growth of Nopales, cacti. I went back in November 2011 and only a stump by the red door remained.

I like to "doodle" and one of my favorite subjects are different angles of kivas. The difference is mine are from the inside looking out. Somewhere in the picture is a rista hanging on one of the walls and it is the only colored part of the scene. We lived in Las Vegas for the last 6 years just moving to Louisiana in the last year. I do miss the desert but... I don't miss the heat...

Just wanted to compliment you on your "artisic eye". It is a talent to find the shots that will set your work apart from others which is very obvious you have worked hard at and achieved. Looking deeper into what is front of you and selecting the "right" part of scene makes all the difference. Enjoy your work and will pass along to others your efforts. "Onward thru the Fog... John

Truly appreciate your support and kind words. This is a popular door to photograph in historic Mesilla, New Mexico but I have never seen anyone take a similar composition. It is now a historical shot because the cacti suffered major frost damage a few years back and only a stub remains.

You have a great eye for the composition and for the details. I like very much your works! Ciao, Raffaella
