Description
The William Howard Taft Bridge, named for the 27th President of the United States, crosses over a gorge in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. The Classical Revival bridge, well-known for its deep arches, was designed by engineer George S. Morison and architect Edward Pearce Casey and built between 1897 and 1907. It is part of Connecticut Avenue, which starts just north of the White House and goes into the state of Maryland. The bridge was named for President Taft in 1931.
