Description
As usual, it was past sunset on October 10th when I visited Adams Falls, along Kitchen Creek in Ricketts Glen. The light is so much better here late in the day, so I often reserve Adams as my last shot of the day.
The golden autumn leaves were beginning to show nicely in the trees above the waterfall ...and a few were also accumulating in the rocky gorge. The green hues of summer were still present, but the trees would be stripped of their foliage within just a few days. I was thrilled to be able to see the colors of fall at this site, before they were gone for the year.
This image was shot with a Canon 5D DSLR camera body, through a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L lens, at the 17mm Ultra-Wide focal length. The aperture was set to f/16 with a 4.0 second exposure. The ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod and pistol grip head were used with a remote shutter release cable.
Adams is the first waterfall at the very bottom of the gorge in Ricketts Glen, just down the hill from the Evergreen Parking Area. It’s the only waterfall south of RT-118 in the Glen …and the only falls that are easily reachable as nightfall approaches.
Ricketts Glen is located at the junction of RT-118 and RT 487 in Fairmount Township, Pennsylvania, USA. This is about half way between Williamsport and Wilkes Barre, PA.

Thank you most kindly, Debra! It's so rare to have this waterfall all to myself, but on this evening, it was all mine for just long enough to catch this shot. Best wishes, Gene

Love the sensual shapes of the eroded rock, and some being red it provides the complimentary for the green, all topped off with gold... An absolute delight, Gene! F&V#3
Gene Walls replied:
Thanks, Richard! This waterfall is such a treat to see. The way the water meanders through this serpentine gorge of red rock is unlike any other I have ever seen. Your thoughtful, extremely kind assessment is deeply appreciated! Best wishes, Gene
