Description
Since childhood Dawn has known many, many wild animals around her family's cabin in the foothills of Wyoming's Snowy Range. She made this charcoal sketch of a gopher she named "Trouble," because every time she was feeding sunflower seeds to the female gophers with their babies, this tough old grand-daddy would show up and Dawn would warn, "Watch out, here comes trouble!" He always puffed himself up looking tough and mean, growled and ground his teeth, but if a scrawny female stood her ground and bared her teeth at him, he'd flee in a panic! (Everybody locally calls these rodents "gophers", but they are actually ground squirrels and not closely related to the pocket gopher.) Unfortunately, as you can see from Dawn's sketch, Trouble developed a tumor, something which Dawn finds distressingly common among wild animals, especially rodents and rabbits.
