Description
Spring is in the air in this impressionistic landscape. Majestic Poplar trees and rustic picket fences line a rut filled lane leading pass a quint cottage. Light dances across lush foliage under blue skies dotted with fluffy clouds. The Poplar tree, which gets it name from the ancient Romans name Populus was the practice of planting these trees near public meeting places due to its fast growth and magnificent size. The Poplar was often planted along rural roads to commemorate fallen soldiers. Their proud upright stance and long life (100s of years) made them living memorials.

Although, Poplar wood had many uses one of its most interesting was the Italian practice of using them to paint on. The Mono Lisa is painted on Poplar wood. Today many species of Poplars are threatened with extinction due to loss of habitat and deforestation.
