Description
Take a stroll through time in my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence, Kansas is the only city in the United States that was formed entirely for political purposes just prior to the American Civil War. Here is an architectural and vehicular history of the town along Vermont Street that was echoed across the country. I couldn't help but be struck by the progression: a church (belief), a library (community), and a microwave tower (a voice). This is the story of each of our lives.
Foreground: Plymouth Congregational Church, first church in Kansas territory (dedicated 1870). Middle: Carnegie Library (1906), Background: Microwave Tower (1986).
.................... Wikipedia.............

A Carnegie library is a library built with money donated by Scottish-American businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. 2,509 Carnegie libraries were built between 1883 and 1929.
