This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

This 1894 picture of the family dog asleep on a rug in an empty living room is typical of Carl Larsson (1853-1919)'s affectionate chronicling of domestic life in Sweden in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. What appear to be mistletoe and holly adorning the wall give the scene a festive feel; Christmas is apparently either imminent, or just past. Larsson's habit of outlining his subject matter and 'filling in' with color reflects his early career as an illustrator. In 1877, he moved to Paris and became a part of the Scandinavian artists' colony outside the city. It was here that he met his wife-to-be, artist and interior designer Karin Bergoo. Bergoo's father gave the couple a small house, Little Hyttnas, in Sundborn, Sweden, which they decorated themselves. It also became the backdrop for the series of delightful domestic scenes for which Larsson is probably best remembered.
